Waiting List
When a person with developmental disabilities reaches the age of 21
they are not always able to attend day habilitation centers
immediately. In 2006 over 1400 persons with developmental disabilities
were on the Alabama Waiting List for services and in 2007 the number
increased to 1600. Over 40 people per month are being added to this
list. Some have already waited for as long as 10 years.
The Arc of the Shoals contracts with the Department of Mental
Health/Mental Retardation to provide services for individuals with
developmental disabilities and their families. DMH/MR has designated
SCOPE 310 as the single-point of entry for services in Colbert,
Lauderdale, and Franklin Counties.
We encourage you to sign your child up immediately for the Alabama
Waiting List by contacting Scope 310 Board, 201 South Court St,
Florence, AL 35630, 256.768.0901.
