Today the mission has expanded far beyond its original intent by providing community-based, family-centered advocacy and support for persons with developmental disabilities in Colbert and Lauderdale Counties. The Arc’s goal is to provide opportunities for persons with developmental disabilities by assisting them in accomplishing goals of learning, living, working and recreating where they choose.

Currently, The Arc of the Shoals provides services for over 130 consumers in addition to providing advocacy services and supported employment. Programs of The Arc include:

>> Bell, Torbert, Hallmark and Trapp Homes
>> Phyllis Lyle Work Center
>> ArcWorks
